Hearings for Brendan Banfield and his former au pair, Juliana Peres Magalhães, were held Thursday in the same Fairfax County courtroom.

More than a year and a half after the shocking deaths of Christine Banfield, 37, and a man named Joseph Ryan, 38, Banfield's husband has been charged with both of their murders.

It took months for the first charges to come down, but in October 2023, the authorities charged the au pair, Juliana Peres Magalhães, 24, with second-degree murder in the shooting death of the man found in the home, Joseph Ryan, 38.

The trial for Brendan Banfield, a Virginia man accused of killing his wife and another man at the married couple's Fairfax County home, has been scheduled for February 3 of next year.

It's been more than a year and a half since a man and a woman were found murdered in a Virginia home, and almost a year since the live-in au pair for the woman's family was charged in one of the murders.

The trial date has been set for a man who was charged for his alleged involvement in killing his wife and another man in their Reston home when the couple's au pair was previously charged.
