ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico's governor declared an emergency Thursday after a powerful winter storm left tens of thousands of people without power as heavy snow, fierce winds and freezing temperatures marched across the northern two-thirds of the state and into Colorado.

Some areas of New Mexico have already seen over 2 feet of snow, and it's going to keep falling into Saturday. Here's the forecast.

A winter weather storm continued to blast parts of New Mexico on Thursday and Friday. While some areas like Albuquerque caught a break from the snow, Las Vegas got pummeled with 21.2 to 31.7 inches in some areas.

After the Supreme Court sided with the federal government in the Texas v. New Mexico water case, the parties are going back to the drawing board.

So far, Mexico has delivered only about one-quarter of what it owes for the five-year period that ends in October 2025
